// IN BRIEF
LSK in Greece

 |
|

From left to right: Nader Elhaj (Framecad), Pierre Quaquin (LSK), Evangelos Mylonas, Roberto Gerontas (SteelHouse), Natividad Pastor (LSK) |
From 09 to 12 of May 2008, LSK participated to the exhibition on preconstruction (CONSTRUCTIONS 2008) that was held in Athens. Invited by STEELHOUSE S.A. – a long term member of the organization?- LSK was represented by Pierre Quaquin (General Secretary) and Dr.? Natividad Pastor (LSK technical Dept.). Nader Elhajj from FrameCad Solutions (FCS) was also invited. FCS is also an LSK member which is specialized in advanced roll forming and software solutions for lightweight steel.
STEELHOUSE has presented SCS (SteelHouse Construction System) to the Greek public through a complete 2 storey steel framed building of 75sqm displaying all stages of construction from steel framing and insulation up to drywall systems which was erected inside the exhibition hall.
During the exhibition, SteelHouse with the aid of LSK and Nader Elhajj, organized a seminar presenting the advantages of steel framing in terms of quality, pricing, speed and environmental friendliness. Moreover, LSK presented itself in Greece and gave some information on the WISH program (presented by Pierre Quaquin) and on the Anti-Seismic design (presented by Natividad Pastor).
The feedback we had from this seminar was very promising for the future of lightweight steel construction in Greece.

Lightweight Steel solutions for a housing program, Bucharest, Romania
CASA BUNA, a housing program in Romania, made in partnership with ArcelorMittal Foundation and Habitat for Humanity to build houses for people in need, will be a test for the Romanian version of the WISH method. A demonstration and a training session for volunteers will be organised in October on ArcelorMittal Construction site in Bucharest. CASA BUNA will offer comfortable housing to budget-constrained Romanian families. Nevertheless the houses will meet the seismic requirements specific to Romania and they will be energy-efficient, thanks to cold-formed steel !
(more information on www.easy-steel.com).
A workshop is organised in October to Bucharest, Romania to visit the CASA BUNA building site.

Some Case studies WISH 1.0 will be soon available on the website.
Editor’s choice : Steel solutions for renovation : a new successful market for light steel framing
Geoxia, the French number 1 national housing builder offers steel solutions for renovation. The renovation market represents today 50% of the residential market with a strong potential of development that goes from extension, elevation to improvement of thermal and acoustic performances of existing buildings. As a preview, on the stand of GEOXIA SERVICES, visitors of the exhibition Rénover 2008 that took place in Paris from the 4th to the 6th of April 2008 discovered the innovating solutions developed within the framework of the partnership with ArcelorMittal. On the one hand innovating steel solutions for elevation and transformation of metal frames into thin sections associated to sandwich steel panels into frontages. And on the other hand a global offer for the transformation of existing houses, in particular with the software ODMIR 4, aid tool of decision-making for restoration of houses.
GEOXIA SERVICES is indeed the prize winner of the Foundation of research in building-energy, supported by 4 major actors of the habitat and energy sector which are EDF, GDF, Lafarge and... ArcelorMittal. Pierre Bourrier and Thierry Braine-Bonnaire (ArcelorMittal) have supported this initiative. Thanks to the software ODMIR 4 the owner, with the assistance of a technician, is able to make his thermal diagnosis and to visualise the energy profits resulting from some works. To summarise, to reduce the energy bill and to gain square meters, it means to act on the long term for the environment and the quality of life.
For those who did not have the opportunity to go to the Rénover 2008 exhibition, GEOXIA SERVICES invite people to attend the Housing exhibition that will take place in Toulouse, France from September 20th to September 28th, 2008.
